Billie Jean Dunn Interview Analyzed

Posted on 06:23 by Unknown
Spinning still...

Billie Jean Dunn, Person of Interest, along with former boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, recently spoke out about suspicion, but only on Adkins.  She continues to attempt to rehabilitate her public image, etched strongly by the police affidavit, the failed polygraphs, pornography and obsession with killing.  Here, she addresses and ultimately seeks to protect Shawn Adkins against suspicion as she spins with the help and cooperation of media:
“I have always realized that was a possibility, but finding the remains so close to home makes me think that might not be the case.”
Law enforcement has withheld information from her, which is s topic of particular sensitivity for her. Law enforcement has two people they believe killed Hailey and dumped her remains, and they are the two who lied, drugged, and failed to tell the truth.   She attempts, whenever possible, to make it sound as if the FBI or other law enforcement is speaking with her.  They are not. Law enforcement does not make a practice of sharing information with suspects.  The attorneys will get all the information in discovery.
Note the word "that" distances herself from Adkins as a suspect, yet even more so, we see she used the word "but", which is used to refute, minimize, or compare that which preceded it. She realizes that it was always a possibility "but", and it is here, with the word "but" that she refutes Shawn Adkins' involvement:  it makes her think it was not Shawn because of locality.  Yet, Hailey was found where Shawn said she would be found, and in an "ugly" field where Dunn  did not want to search.
The word "but" is key:  She defends him.
“I am hopeful from things I hear from the FBI that there is some evidence that points to a suspect or suspects. I hope it is a rapid arrest with severe and just punishment.”
Note that the word "hear" is in the present tense, not in the past tense, nor even in the future tense, as if law enforcement will be contacting her.  Previously she had avoided speaking of "severe" and "just" punishment.  What is the difference between "severe" and "just" punishment?  The present tense is used as to avoid directly lying using past tense "what I heard", or even future tense "what I will hear..."
She uses the present tense in an attempt to deceive.  She has not heard from them, nor will she.  She is not "hearing" anything at present, nor on Tuesday of this week, when she gave the interview to the local media, via phone.
in an affidavit early on in the investigation, Shawn Adkins was asked whom investigators needed to look at to solve this case.  He said,  “both of us.”
Billie Dunn has never denied involvement in the death of Hailey Dunn, but only expressed surprise or outrage that she was a suspect, in spite of failing the polygraph.
“I have much bigger issues than to dwell on rumor or negative talk,” Dunn said. “I know it is out there and it does anger and hurt me.  Yet she does not deny involvement and in more than 2 years of constant interviews and appearances, never has.
Of those who believe she is guilty, including the polygrapher of whom she labeled as a devil, She said,
“I have bigger fish to fry — to make sure there is justice.  They are bullies and they are set in their ways.” This is an attempt to portray herself as on the side of justice; something reminiscient of OJ Simpson searching for Nicole Goldman's 'killer' on the golf courses.
Dunn portrayed to the press that she had 'kicked out' Shawn Adkins shortly after reporting Hailey missing.  What media forgot was how quickly she moved him back in, and even lied to police about his whereabouts.  The two remain organically linked for life.  Even while attempting to accuse him, she finds ways to cast doubt upon his guilt.  Here she minimizes and acts 'surprised' that one with blood lust videos and child pornography might be rude to her:
“He started with harassing phone calls, leaving messages. He would say ‘I still have a key to your apartment.’”
“Maybe some people were right about him,” she said. About Adkins' involvement:
“I still think it a possibility (Adkins was involved),” she said. “I know the generalized area where the remains were found and it would probably be someone from West Texas who knew all those roads.”
This would include both Dunn and Adkins.
Her attorney John Young confirmed that law enforcement has not been in contact with Dunn.
“I don’t believe there is any focus on Billie at this point,.  We are making every effort to be cooperative with investigators.”
Note that the additional words "at this point" can be applied to both Dunn and Adkins; the only two named Persons of Interest who both failed their polygraphs.
Note also that it is them, together, having to make an "effort" ("every" effort, making "effort" itself, sensitive) to be cooperative.  Note the word "with" when used between people indicates distance.
This means that "we" and "investigators" is distance language reflecting the distance in reality.  For those who thought that law enforcement might have been sharing information with Young, this indicates that it is not so. Young also spoke about the letter from a federal inmate, hoping to cast suspicion from his client.  Statement Analysis of the letter showed it to be deceptive:  it did not come from experiential memory.  Yet he said,  “I am aware that there have been investigations in persons of interest in the Odessa area that law enforcement may have interviewed those persons, but I am unaware to what extent whether those interviews were fruitful.”
They were unfruitful and easily dismissed as a fraud.
The remains have not be released.  To which Dunn said, in an attempt to sound 'cooperative':
“They know I want her back badly.  They know I ‘m not going to rush them through anything, either.”
She does not have a choice.  Whether she 'rushes' them or not, it is meaningless and another attempt to portray herself as cooperative to the public.
Dunn continues to attempt to rework her image from child pornography, drugs, violence, obsession with serial killing, bestiality and home-made pornography to caring mother:
“I want to take other mothers under my wing and get their child’s face out in the media. I want to make sure Hailey has a legacy and I will start doing some advocating.”
