Hannah Anderson, 16, was 'creeped out' by family friend James Lee DiMaggio, who is the prime suspect in her abduction and her mother's death.
A missing teen girl was “creeped out” by the 40-year-old family friend suspected of killing her mother and possibly her 8-year-old brother, according to her friend.
Authorities suspect James Lee DiMaggio, a close family friend, kidnapped Hannah Anderson, 16, before he fled his rural California home near the Mexico border. An Amber Alert for Hannah now includes Washington state and Oregon after two possible sightings on Wednesday.
The girl’s friend, 15-year-old Marissa Chavez, said DiMaggio told Anderson he had a crush on her and would have liked to date her if they were the same age. Chavez said Anderson was leery of DiMaggio and felt uncomfortable riding alone with him to gymnastics meets.
"She was a little creeped out by it. She didn't want to be alone with him," Chavez said.

A friend says Hannah Anderson, 16, felt uncomfortable after family friend James Lee DiMaggio confessed to having a crush on her.
Anderson asked Chavez to accompany her on the drives, and DiMaggio caught them exchanging glances a couple of months before the girl’s disappearance. Marissa said DiMaggio told the teens he didn’t want them to think he was weird.
Authorities began a manhunt for DiMaggio on Sunday after firefighters discovered 42-year-old Christina Anderson’s body next to a dead dog. Investigators later discovered the body of a child as well.
Hannah’s aunt, Andrea Saincome, told Headline News she believes the child is Hannah’s 8-year-old brother, Ethan. Investigators say it’s possible — even probable — that it’s Ethan, but they’re waiting on the results of a DNA analysis to make a positive identification.

San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. Glenn Giannantonio told the Daily News it was impossible to tell if the child’s corpse found in the rubble was a boy or a girl.
Authorities have expanded an Amber Alert in an ever-widening effort to bring Anderson home safely. DiMaggio is believed to be driving a 2013 blue Nissan Versa. Oregon State Police received two reports of possible sightings on Wednesday, first in Northern California and again, about 30 minutes later, near the Southern Oregon town of Lakeview, The Oregonian newspaper reported.
Anderson’s father, Brett Anderson, pleaded with DiMaggio in a news conference on Tuesday.

James Lee Dimaggio, 40, ‘creeped out’ 16-year-old Hannah Anderson long before he was suspected of killing her mother, Christina Anderson, and possibly her brother, 8-year-old Ethan Anderson.
“I’m begging you to let my daughter go,” Anderson said. “You’ve taken everything else.”
DiMaggio’s sister, Lora Robinson, told U-T San Diego she couldn’t believe he would commit the heinous crimes.
“That’s completely out of character for him,” Robinson said.
